Prompted by the Japanese concept of Ma – a consciousness of the dynamic between mass and void, Spanish photographer Xavier Comas rode multiple elevators in Tokyo photographing his fellow passengers in situ. Shooting in black & white, Comas discovered the appearance of an extra dimension in a purportedly insignificant non-place. These abstract photographs reveal a relationship between the tangible and intangible, akin to a portal to other worlds. The exhibition SIX incorporates prints and video projection.
