“For years I make photographs of all kinds of situations of which I think there is something special about it, a detail or a kind of composition, from a city, industrial area, country or nature, etc. Sometimes I take pictures from old books, papers or television on which I can react with a humoristic adding I take small details from it and work with those. And I make photos from paintings and objects in museums and I look for special details on which I can react. Over the years I made hundreds of photos of head-ornaments from buildings in different countries in Europe so most of all the pictures I use I take myself. Those of known paintings I mostly take myself but sometimes I find them on the Internet. I always do something special with the picture and I don’t want to violate any copyrights.”

Herman Hermsen is a Dutch product and jewelry designer who has been holding a professorship at the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, Germany since 1992. His works have been exhibition and collected in many public collections around the world.
