40 Years of Panorama Photography: Life with the FT-2
In this unique exhibition, Serindia Gallery presents a fascinating
story of photographer Jaroslav Poncar and his relationship with a
single type of camera, the FT-2, a 1958 Russian-made that takes true
panorama photographs — single continuous horizontal images that are
natural to the human eyes. Though for 40 years he has used this camera
and ended in 2016 with the last roll of 35-mm Kodak Ektachrome, the
life with this camera did not come to an end. It lives in the
photographs that Poncar took in various places in Europe, Central, and
Southeast Asia. In this aesthetically informative show, the audience
will marvel at the quality and subtitles of the photographs taken only
with this camera and a 35-mm film. Some are presented as long as three
meters and some in vertical formats. This will be a must-see and
eye-opening show for a new generation of photographers.
