Kangjor is an annual event, held by the Film and Photography students from Chulalongkorn University,
where their works -- short/feature films and photography projects -- are exhibited. This event receives
great attention from film lovers who are interested in the works of amateur artists who are eager to
express themselves through the language of visual communication, in both film and photography.
This year’s Kangjor is the 25th with the name “Kangjor25 Benjapes, Such a _ _ _ _ _ nerd”, where 5
photography projects will be displayed at W District on 7-13 July 2018 and 13 short/feature films will be
screened at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre on July 14-15, 2018.
The concept conveys the ultimate relationship between the students and the subjects they are
passionate about and how the subject matter affects them throughout their coming of age period. The
name “Benjhaped” in Thai is believed to be ages that ends with the number “5”, such as 5, 15, 25, 35,
and so on. Thai people believe that such ages mark the new stages of their lives and changes will be
awaiting them.
The event will not only be the platform for the filmmakers to get together and share their experiences in
films, but also create great chances for other people to get in touch with student’s perspectives on issues
that could be contiguous with the artists or issues concerning criticising the whole society.
